Important Read: SHE CAN DO BOTH! As a martial arts teacher, we eventually get students that are exceptional, that have all the raw talent needed to be the top of the mountain. Unfortunately, once adolescence hits, the chances of them staying is 50/50. Often our voice is now replaced by someone else that has deemed what they love as "uncool or unpopular;" sad but true. Teen Class: Newaza Night. Karate people often neglect the ground game. I once heard that Bruce Lee was quoted as saying, an individual with a year of boxing and wrestling can win against a lifelong martial artist. Well, maybe so, so just in case, let's prepare. Tonight we worked single leg and down leg takedowns, duck-unders from uchikomi, escapes from mount, and positional control. Im exhausted just watching. Class of the Kyoshi is almost here, and we are very fortunate to have Renshi Stephen Ferraro from Canada joining us. Renshi Ferraro, 6th dan karate, is an exciting instructor and is nothing short of world class. Renshi Ferraro’s understanding of kata and how it correlates to grappling and stand up fighting is impressive and makes him very sought after in the karate world. Join us September 27 - 29th!
